MusicNet Live

MusicNet is a live music event to help our New Deal (ND) musicians across the North East of England, network with each other and the local music business community.

Go to Alan Robson review (MusicNet 2/10/01). Photography by Roger Burlison At each event, we offer a number of our ND musicians the opportunity to showcase their music live on stage, with many performing in front of an audience for the very first time.

Since New Deal for musicians started back in August 1999, we have held numerious MusicNets in Newcastle and Middlesbrough and sponsored ND performers (despite the rain) at the Newcastle Green Festival during the "summer" of 2000.

We like to promote the full diversity of music styles and genres created by our ND musicians and so far performances have included soloists, duets, DJs and full bands playing anything from Fun Punk, Indie, Rock, Classical, Folk, Pop, Rap and Thrash Metal, to Techno, Hard House, Ambient and even "Gypsy Brass"!

We run MusicNet as a private event, inviting all our ND musicians, our team of specialist Music Industry Consultants (MICs), the other partners involved in delivering New Deal for musicians, and support organisations like the Prince's Trust.

We also invite key people working in the local music industry as promoters, labels, music journalists, managers, rehearsal studios, recording studios, and music retailers. A number of representatives from national music business organisations like the Musicians Union (MU) and the Performing Right Society (PRS) have also attended.

Past events have helped ND musicians get gigs, find DJ slots, approach labels, attract media coverage and find other musicians to work with.

Feedback from the local music industry too, has been encouraging with many saying how beneficial they find MusicNet. Not only do they get to see new acts, but they also get to network with others in the local music community.

Since the beginning of 2001, each MusicNet has had a full MusicNet News review written by North East music journalist John Hayton. Reviews are also featured here @ MBR On-Line with extra photographs and performer contact details. To read a review just select one of the following events or performers:
