Our aim is to help people understand the business side of their industry - we expect they'll already understand the creative side. We do this through 1-2-1 mentoring advice, business training courses and here online. This support is often low cost if not free!

Since 1999, we have been supporting unemployed aspiring musicians and songwriters through both mentoring and training initiatives on behalf of Jobcentre Plus under their New Deal for musicians programme. We have delivered programmes across the South East, the East Midlands, Yorkshire and Humberside and in the North East of England - effectively offering support across much of Eastern England from the Scottish Borders to the South Coast.

In Hackney (London), we continue to run a New Deal for Musicians programme with Working Links that we call MIST (Music Industry Support & Training), and, new for 2010, we are rolling out our latest Music And Creative Industries Support programme under the DWP's Flexible New Deal (FND). Initially this will happen across Tees Valley and North Yorkshire in partnership with Working Links but we hope soon to roll out support to other parts of the UK too - so watch this space!

Also new for 2010, and building on 20 years experience helping music and creative entrepreneurs, we are currently working with Remploy across the South Yorkshire & Derbyshire region to offer business start up support to their FND customers. In the music industry, we have practical experience too. A couple of years ago we went back to our roots and rekindled Militia Beat Records, the forerunner label that put the "M", the "B" and the "R" into MBR Promotions! Militia Beat currently manages influential dance label Subversive Records Limited and is looking to release its own signings as well as offering label management services to other recording companies. We also put on occasional live music events and get involved in music management.
